Beaufort Inn

From checkin to check out …. Everything was perfect. The staff was fantastic and pleasant.

Wonderful 2-night stay in one of the detached buildings on the property. I would recommend staying out of the main house because in the detached buildings you have a porch with rocking chairs and lovely, romantic views of courtyards. The Beaufort Inn is perfectly situated and within walking distance to downtown and the waterfront. The breakfast that is included is good.

We had originally booked a Historic King room to celebrate our wedding anniversary. This was confirmed but a week before our arrival was changed to a Courtyard King without explanation. With little options, we didn't mind the change. The room was fine for what appeared to be an older building. You had to let the shower run for a while before it got hot. The sprinklers also had an intermittent drip which was odd. When we woke up the next morning, we planned on going for a walk. At the bottom of the stairwell there was a homeless guy sleeping at the bottom of the stairs. I went to call the front desk but the room phone wasn't working. I called using my cell and got voice mail. I left a message which went unreturned. We went out on the balcony and shouted down a worker who finally booted the guy. I went to the front desk and the person nonchalantly told me that this happened a few weeks ago. He also admitted that the phones had been a problem. He suggested that we talk to the manager when he got in. The manager thanked us for letting him know. Letting him know? The same thing happened two weeks ago and it wasn't resolved. No keyless entry because as he said you just can't go to Lowes. He said the police were notified. So? What were they supposed to do? Profile anyone walking by the property? My wife suggested that they get real keys made for the foyer. Good idea, he said. Not once did we get an apology, just thanks for letting him know. We never had this happen to us and it was unnerving. The Beaufort Inn is not inexpensive and guest safety should be a given. Free access to entryways and inoperable phones leave alot to be desired.
