Comfort Inn - South Forest Beach

We normally stay in a condo when we go to HHI, but we decided last minute to bring our dog and needed something pet friendly. The Good: Hotel is pet friendly and our room was convenient to be able to take our dog out. When we arrived, the room was clean, though very dated looking. The bathroom appeared clean, but had an old, musty smell. The breakfast was pretty decent and we had no negative interactions with staff. The Bad: Parking is terrible. There are not nearly enough spots. The hallway is open air, so it's very hot. It took awhile each night to get our room to cool down. The hotel is very noisy due to slamming doors....starting as early as 5am and lasting past midnight. While I was able to ignore it, if you have a pet who reacts to noise, be prepared for that. The toilet paper roll was barely hanging from the wall. The Ugly: Water is everywhere. Our first night, the toilet started leaking and never stopped. Our second night, it rained and our carpet got wet, which continued to spread throughout the room. By the time we left, almost the entire carpet was wet. This also gave the room a smell. The bathtub did not drain, so by the time you finished your shower, dirty water was halfway up your leg. I will add that we did not address this with the hotel because our dog doesn't like strangers and we didn't want people in and out of our room. We only stayed 3 nights, so we managed.

Hotel is in a little park area with ponds and playgrounds. Walking distance to Hilton Head beach 🏖️, shops and restaurants at Coligny Plaza. Parking 🅿️ $ 10 per day including covered spaces. Very friendly staff (reception, service etc.). Rooms are not great but typical Holiday Inn Express standard. Some with small balconies facing the pool side. Fridges in rooms available. We‘d come back when on the island.

Good hotel in nice location (just 5-10min walk from the beach). Hotel was renovated few years ago and rooms are in general good condition. Just the breakfast room is far too small for this size of hotel.
