Comfort Suites Charleston

We had a good stay, but there were a few turn-offs. The good parts were that the room was very clean and well kept, and that's the most important thing. I found it easy to get to (you have to do a little loop off the highway but if you have a navigation system, it's really easy). Big enough parking lot, a handful of restaurants in the same parking lot area or walking distance. The hotels and the area itself were a bit run down outside of the actual room itself. There were a few broken things in the hallway, the elevator was veryyyy slow, there was a homeless woman sleeping on the bench outside because it's right off the highway underpass (though she wasn't a disturbance at all). We brought our dog cross-country and he was with us. No question about weight or size, just a $30 fee. They did put us on the third floor which I prefer the first floor with a dog just in case he's noisy on the floor below, but it was still fine. We took the stairs up and down since the elevator was small and slow, which isn't a big deal for us. Would we still stay here again? Maybe as a backup. Our stay was perfectly fine but it wasn't my favorite location. We stayed at the Marriott closer to the city center previously and I liked that area a lot more.

We stayed overnight at the hotel during our trip. The hotel is just off the Turnpike but you really need a GPS to find the driveway as the cloverleaf and access roads around the area are confusing during the night time hours. The hotel was very clean and well kept. The staff was welcoming as well, parking was easy with a large parking lot shared by another hotel. The hotel is in an industrial area of the city and the roads are beat up with the hotel entry having a big pothole that is hard to see with poor lighting in the area. We would stay here again, as the hotel itself is nice and now we know the area a little better.

Upon our arrival the parking lot and entrance area were littered with boxes and empty soda bottles. Not very welcoming. The front desk woman was very friendly offering us water and cookies. As we got off the elevator on the second floor there was an empty pizza box on top of the garbage bin which was right across from a housekeeping room with an open door showing lots of clutter. And the pizza box was still there the next morning. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Room darkening shades a plus. Breakfast was well stocked and orderly. Not a bad hotel just needs more attention to cleanliness and clutter. Convenient location, close to highway, food and gas.
