Town House Motel

Literally the worst dump I've ever stayed at. The front desk girl left after I checked in at 4pm. My room stank of cigarettes and Lord knows what else. No toilet paper in the room. No wifi. Sleeping in your car is a better option.

My friend and I booked three nights, but left after the first one (of course, we still had to pay for all three). We have traveled the world and stayed in many types of accommodations, but this one felt too unsafe to risk staying for three nights. Although we set our arrival time around 8PM, we were texted earlier in the day asking if we could check in independently. We agreed and they texted us a lock code for a box. When we showed up around our expected time, the key was locked in the mailbox, which would have been fine if it was the only one. There were, however, three or four envelops containing room keys and papers with personal information (from the receipt). We took our envelope and relocked the box. Someone was parked in the spot directly in front of our room, so we had to park on the other side of the lot. When we entered the room, it was clearly very minimal (again, would be fine if things were functioning and safe) and not what was presented online. One bed had a frame, while the other was clearly a pull out / cot. Several of the lights were broken, as were a few outlets. The beds and bathroom had a few stains and marks that made everything feel dirty. The biggest concern was the lock on the door. The only lock / safety measure was the actual physical key, a very simple lock that could easily be picked. There was no dead bolt, and because there was lots of activity happening outside the room (people hanging out, talking at a volume that could be heard inside), we felt it best to block the door with a chair as we slept. Due to our already late arrival, the prepayment, and the difficulty of finding a new room on late notice during the Sturgis Rally, we forced ourselves to stay for the first night. If money and exhaustion were no issues, we would have left that night.

it didn't compare to pictures, looked like a weekly/monthly rental. Door was open when arrived, shower handle fell off. Very shady area. Cut stay short, slept in car with pistol available.
