Spearfish Holiday Inn Convention Center

First: the second star is for the staff and their service. Otherwise this would be a one star review because the facility is godawful. The facility is NOT up to modern standards, especially when the traveler is paying almost $250 per night. 1. One elevator a huge distance from the main entrance. 2. Every toilet is child sized and none are handicap friendly. 3. No coffee service available during the day. 4. This is a convention center and there will be hundreds of people there you weren’t expecting. 5. The pool is a noisy apocalypse that is impossible to have conversation in. 6. The rooms are impossibly crowded with pointless furniture making it impossible to move around or have friends in without them sitting on the bed. 7. Few working ice machines. 8. Poor signage to figure out how to get to the entrance. 9. Wi-Fi so poor that it might as well not be available. Couple that with having to join IHG spam service to get to the WiFi it’s a really sore point. I could say more but I am tired of.

This hotel is alright if you are there using the convention center. If not, I wouldn’t recommend it. The rooms are horribly unkept and outdated. I walked in and the first thing I saw was a USED feminine pad on the floor. Not exactly what I wanted to see right away. Made me not want to take my shoes off. The bathroom was old and unkept. The wood structure above the sink was horribly discolored from wiping it down with cleaning products. There was barely enough room for my toiletry bag. You can tell they have had to install new IHG items in the room, but none of them were working or plugged in. You can tell they were forced to install, but have no intention of using the items. The pool area looked cool, never swam though. The check in staff was nice. I never got my room cleaned during the day while others said there rooms were cleaned, not sure why that was as I did not have the card on my door.

No issues with the hotel at all. I have an EV so the on-site chargers were amazing. The hotel does have an unusual layout for a holiday inn, with a central atrium containing the pool and hot tub, with interior rooms having windows into that area. Definitely due for a renovation, TVs are from 2010 era.
