HOMEWOOD SUITES BY HILTON - FT

Not up to Hilton chain standards. Surrounded by cheaper hotels. Renovation equipment and supplies in the lobby. Propped open doors with no handles. Inadequate light at the in-room dining table. Floor, refrigerator, & bathroom counter soiled by previous guests. A piece of disposable nitrile glove was in a bedspread. Live cricket in the bathroom. Bathroom sink had no stopper. Air-conditioning unit cooled very slowly.

This environment in this hotel was awful. First impression, the lobby was dirty and unwelcoming. I checked in at 1 am, tired and sleepy due to flight delays and upon arrival I wanted to just turn around and walk out. The night auditor had on a hoodie and a baseball cap, no name tag. If he wasn’t behind the desk I would have never ever believed he was employed there . He was nice enough but that doesn’t make up for professionalism. There were bugs crawling around and a musky smell that was overwhelming. I always have faith that a Hilton will be decent but in this case it wasn’t and I had to accept that I was stuck there, no time or energy to look for something respectable. When I got to the room it was surprisingly nice and spacious. The tv was big and inviting but the guide was impossible to figure out. I wanted the news but just left it on the one accessible channel. I was exhausted and laid down in a bed with pillows that were comfortable and then it happened. The air conditioner came on and i jumped out of my skin. it sounded like a heavy drill with knocking sounds and lingering vibrations. I couldn’t believe it. I was in shock. I never experienced anything like it. At that hour, with Texas heat to contend with, I just put in noise cancelling headphones and tried to sleep. In the morning, I went to the front desk where I complained on a 10 minute rant. I requested a call from the GM and got a wry apology and a promise that he’d follow up and of course he didn’t. The look of the place and the unprofessional staff almost guaranteed he wouldn’t. Unfortunately, I had no choice but stay there another night—and the results were the same. This time I requested to move because of the air conditioner and the room I moved to was even worse. Again it was late so I just suffered through it. I did my research and Hilton should disassociate themselves from this private owner. They’re degrading their reputation. Not only would I never stay there again, I wouldn’t even walk in the lobby.

Two night stay in a renovated room that was clean and decent overall. The door to the bedroom didn’t properly close, and there was no housekeeping service during the stay. Towels and washcloths were replaced when requested via pickup at the front desk. Hotel photos represent renovated rooms, and the property is still under construction.
