OK...hotel was clean and safe and convenient to Med Ctr and MDA; room was spacious. That gets them the three...almost a two, though. But this place is weird, weird, weird. Not Bates Motel weird...no apparent homicidal psychos running around...but just plain ODD. Kind of a renovated warehouse, '80's-Sears-Decor, over-signnaged, missing-staff kind of weird. Front desk didn't open until 9:30 (whatever happened to the night auditor? Front Desks are supposed to be open ALL THE TIME! That's why it's called THE HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY!) There's a "Breakfast Room" but we realized there would be no breakfast IF THERE WAS NO ONE THERE BEFORE 9:30! $15 fee for "lost keys;" now mind you, these are just cheezy old mag-stripe card keys WHICH WERE PAID FOR BY LOCAL DOMINO'S PIZZA because their ad is on the back! Sat TV was a mess...half the stations had inaudible audio due to static. Beds had plastic (HARD plastic...kinda like people cover their sofas with!) mattress pads. Front Desk looks like a Guard Station at The Big House. Check it out...there are photos in the listing and at their site. The person we interacted with at the Front Desk was very friendly, as she peeked over the high counter at the Guard Station/Front Desk. Don't pay over $90/nite for this place. There is a nice Hampton Suites with free Happy Hours and Breakfasts just about 4 blocks away on Old Spanish Trail which is competitively priced....and it has a Luby's Cafeteria right next door if you have diverse appetites or don't want to drive all over looking for chow.

First of all, this stay was gifted to us so I can't speak to room rates, but the published prices I've read would be too much. Sure it's within walking distance of the Medical Center and Metro that can connect you to most of the city. The rooms were clean and housekeeping seemed very contentious. That's where the good ends. It sounds cliche but there was a definite Bates Motel feel. We stayed 7 nights and for 6 nights we were the ONLY guests in the 3 story structure. The front desk is only manned for certain hours and not even as often as the signs indicates. And that's another thing...they must have a deal with the guy who makes little signs there are more than a dozen posted in every room. The kitchenette is workable, but the 2 burner stovetop had been closed up. The outlet near the kitchenette didn't work. We had to move the coffee pot to the bathroom counter. The pool is incredibly small. And we had to have it unlocked. But as mentioned above staff is hard to find that that an issue. There was no one at the front desk desk for us to officially check out. We never got a final bill to be sure we weren't charged any additional feesz I'll post some pics for you to see some of whah I've mentioned.

This motel is clean, fresh and the reception staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Great security in a clean part of town. Had a swim in the pool. Very nice area for families. Close to medical facilities if that's what you need. Good central point for us to sightsee as we had a rental car.
