The room was smaller than expected. They advertised that they had breakfast included, but did not have any room said to have a little small coffee machine, but had nothing at all. Overall the staff was great. They try to really help with the little stuff which I was appreciative. It’s not bad place to stay for the price you pay.

I would not recommend this Super 8 based on both the condition of the property and the way my concerns were handled afterward.
We stayed July 23–24 in Room 304 and checked in after 3:00 a.m. When I woke later that morning, I discovered there was no hand soap in the bathroom, nor was there bathing soap or shampoo. When I went downstairs and asked about it, the front-desk employee stated that the hotel does not provide soap or shampoo. I also photographed the housekeeping cart, and there were no toiletry items on it for placement in the rooms.
That was only one of several concerns. The hotel had a strong odor that smelled like cat urine. There was what appeared to be a Reese’s cup wrapper on the floor near the head of the bed. One electrical outlet did not work, and when we unplugged a fan we had brought with us, the outlet receptacle actually pulled out of the wall because it was not properly secured.
I documented these conditions with photographs.
Because the room had been prepaid through Expedia, simply leaving the property would have meant losing the money we had already paid. We were put in the position of either forfeiting our money or remaining at a property where we had concerns about sanitation, cleanliness, and electrical safety.
I reported the situation to Wyndham Customer Care and was assigned Case #11931114. Wyndham’s response was essentially that the property is independently owned and operated as a franchise and that I needed to work with the property and Expedia regarding reimbursement.
I understand that Expedia processed my payment. What I do not understand is why Wyndham appears unwilling to take ownership of whether a hotel displaying the “Super 8 by Wyndham” name is meeting Wyndham’s own brand, sanitation, cleanliness, and safety standards.
I followed up with Wyndham asking that the matter be escalated and that the franchise’s compliance with Super 8 standards be reviewed. My follow-up has gone unanswered.
I have also formally reported the sanitation concerns to San Antonio Metro Health.
This is no longer simply about a refund. It is about accountability. If Wyndham allows independently owned hotels to operate under its name, I believe Wyndham should also take guest complaints about the condition and safety of those properties seriously instead of simply directing the customer back to the franchisee.
