Snowpine Lodge

Snowpine Lodge is in a beautiful setting and has attractive facilities, but our actual experience fell far short of what should be expected from a luxury hotel—especially at this price. We were unable to sleep properly on either night of our two-night stay. The first night, a constant banging noise kept us awake. When we raised the issue, a front-desk employee suggested another room and described it as having “the best view in the hotel,” even though it looked directly toward an electrical pole. Since we had only one night remaining, we stayed in our original room and hoped for a better second night. Unfortunately, the second night was worse. The air conditioning in our room did not work. The front desk acknowledged that they could not reach maintenance or reset the HVAC system. They brought us a fan, but it was noisy and did not adequately cool the room. A luxury hotel being unable to repair—or provide an appropriate alternative for—a nonfunctioning HVAC system is unacceptable. The food was also disappointing, and the service was inattentive. We waited a long time outside before receiving menus and then continued waiting while we could see our server inside using her phone. The overall food-and-beverage experience did not come close to matching the property’s positioning or prices. I would also strongly recommend comparing rates before booking Snowpine Lodge through American Express. In our experience, there was no meaningful special recognition or added benefit. We received no welcome amenity and no late checkout. Although the booking included a $100 property credit, the American Express rate was higher than rates I could have found independently, substantially reducing the value of that credit. Most disappointing of all, I emailed Snowpine Lodge management with a detailed account of these issues and requested a reasonable adjustment to our folio. After receiving no response, I sent a follow-up five days later and specifically requested a reply within 48 hours. Snowpine Lodge never responded or even acknowledged either message. This is a visually beautiful property, but beautiful surroundings do not excuse two sleepless nights, poor food and inattentive service, an HVAC system the hotel could not fix, questionable value through American Express, and management’s complete failure to respond afterward. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend Snowpine Lodge.

This is a beautiful hotel- both the hotel and the location are exceptional. The staff is warm and professional and worked hard to make our stay amazing. Slope side rooms have fantastic views of Alta, and there's hiking trails right out of the hotel. The pool and hot tubs are clean and well stocked with towels. Props to the front desk staff for being so helpful and kind. The staff in both onsite restaurants were also great, and the food was good.

Had a fantastic weekend getaway to Snowpine. Staff was friendly; food at the pub was great (service even better); summer outdoor activities were on point
