Over the last three years, my husband and I have stayed in two of Mountain Top's rental houses and one of their lodge suites. Each experience was exceptional. The spaces were clean, beautiful and comfortable. The staff were friendly, helpful, and welcoming. The food was incredible and the prices were reasonable. Mountain Top is our favorite place to relax, recharge, and become one with nature. I would highly recommend this as your next getaway for peace and tranquility.

The venue itself is absolutely beautiful, and the location made for a perfect wedding day. Our guests loved the scenery, and we couldn’t have asked for a more picturesque setting. Unfortunately, our experience with the wedding coordination was disappointing. As first-time wedding planners, we expected our coordinator to provide guidance, organization, and help keep us on track throughout the planning process. Instead, communication was often slow or nonexistent, and we frequently felt like we were the ones managing the timeline, asking all the questions, and coordinating the details ourselves. We were hoping for someone who was organized, proactive, and warm, but that wasn’t our experience. To make matters worse, the day after our wedding we received an additional bill for charges that were not included in our original estimate. Not only were these charges unexpected, but they also appeared inaccurate and came with no explanation as to why such a significant amount had been added after the fact. It created unnecessary stress immediately following what should have been a joyful weekend. The venue is truly stunning, and we’re grateful for the beautiful setting. However, the lack of organization, communication, and transparency during the planning process made what should have been an exciting experience far more stressful than it needed to be. We hope this feedback helps improve the experience for future couples.

Two adults and a black lab pup stayed here for three nights in June 2026. A bit pricey ($600/night after all fees & taxes), but we liked it quite a bit considering we have trouble finding good dog-friendly lodging. Very tranquil and the trip was good for a recharge of the senses. We only left the resort on one day to go check out a waterfall trail. Otherwise, lots to do on-site: hiking trails, disc golf, paddleboarding, canoes, tennis, pickleball, pool, hot tub, etc... all included. Extensive XC ski and snowshoe trails in winter. One of the rare instances where the exorbitant "resort fee" delivers things I actually want to do. It was nice to be on vacation and not have to plan and drive to activities every day. There is a guests-only beach on Chittenden Reservoir that we had all to ourselves early and late in the day (dogs allowed at beach and in water). Just grab a paddleboard and go--I was the only person out on this huge body of calm water except for the loons, surrounded by the jagged peaks of the Green Mountain Nat'l Forest as a backdrop. We stayed in a "cabin" that is more like a studio within a townhouse, with one or two other units attached. The cabins have kitchenettes and we brought breakfasts and lunches. We had anticipated driving into Rutland for a better variety of dining options, but late-day inertia related to the 20-minute drive, plus better-than-expected dinners at the inn's restaurant, kept us there for all three evening meals. Outdoor dining was available, with stunning sunset views of the hills and reservoir. A couple of minor caveats related to noise: Our cabin was in a building of three units, and we could clearly hear more than we wanted to of our neighbors--one woman yakking on her phone until 11 p.m. in one unit, and in another, an older gent coughing up a lung as he performed his morning and evening bathroom ablutions. Not sure if the walls were just too thin or if people (as is often the case these days) are oblivious to the need for quiet respect for others in shared spaces. Also, this unit of cabins was directly adjacent to the inn's parking lot for staff trucks, vehicles, and the maintenance shed. On one weekend night, there was a wedding on the premesis, and the shuttle vans were in and out of the lot quite frequently until the late hours running guests back to their houses in a different part of the property. And first thing Monday morning, the maintenance crew was getting ready for work at 8 a.m., with mowers, tractors and trucks all revving up, plus other background noise of music playing and walkie-talkies squawking. None of this would keep us from booking again, but we would definitely request a cabin in a quieter part of the property (there are several). Having said that, the maintenance guys that we met were super-friendly. One saw us playing with our dog, and came over and gave the pup a brand-new tennis ball. Another time, a maintenance worker saw me searching for a place to dispose of bagged dog waste (there aren't many containers for this), and he offered to take the bag from me and get rid of it--now THAT'S excellent service!
