Quality Inn

This hotel is in need of a major renovation. The floor in my room was grungy and the bathtub had peeling paint. The door to my room was bent in at the bottom, as if someone had tried to kick the door down. I did not feel very secure staying here. The cleaning staff removed three used towels from my room but neglected to replace them with fresh towels. Not wanting to be charged with swiping three towels when I checked out, I had to go to the front desk to get new towels. I arrived at the hotel early in the afternoon, having misjudged the traffic I would run into. I was told that if I wanted to check in early, I would have to pay an extra $25. So, they had a room available, sitting there empty, but they wanted $25 for me to check in. I have been showing up early at hotels for 40 years, and I have NEVER been asked to pay an extra $25 to check in. When I balked, I was told that I wouldn't have to pay $25 if I joined the "Choice Privilege" plan. It was free to join, so I did. However, when I returned home four days later, found a $25 charge from the hotel on my debit card. I called and was told that the charge was for checking in early. What? So I argued with the desk clerk for 25 minutes -- being put on hold 5 times -- but she would not refund my money. Apparently, there was a miscommunication here, but it would not have hurt the hotel to refund my $25 as a goodwill gesture. Because they wouldn't, they have lost a customer for life. I hope you're happy now guys.

The front desk is not helpful at all. One couple could not get the heat on in their room. They asked the manager for help and were told that it was cold outside so their room would be cold! I finally got the heat to work but then it would not shut off. Finally, when it was 78 in our room, I totally shut off the unit, then restarted it and got the A/C to work. The A/C units must be 50 years old. Our room had no towels and no condiments when we checked in. Everyone had to ask for towels and soup. The breakfast person would no let anyone get food until 7:00 o'clock sharp. When asked why, he said "it's not my rules". Our room had been renovated (except the A/C) but the bed sagged in the middle.

Terrible rooms. The first room I was given had slivers of old soap bars in the bathtub soap dish. Lots of stains in the tub. That room had a heater that didn't work. I called the front desk twice--no answer. I went down to the desk and the clerk admitted I'd been given a room that was known to have no heat . . . . He offered me the use of a space heater that looked like it had last been used during the Reagan administration. I refused it and asked for another room. The only room available reeked of marijuana. I took it since there seemed to be no alternative. Bad choice. The toilet randomly flushed every 3-5 minutes. I might have gotten 3 hours of sleep. And then I had to insure I wasn't charged the $250 cleaning fee for some jerk smoking dope in that room previously. Finally--a day after I checked out of this disaster, my credit card was charged $25 AGAIN for incidentals. Read more reviews for this business--the same manager (Julie) has been making the same promises on reviews since 2018. It's not improved over time. Avoid at all costs. I had better accommodations in combat zones.
