RESIDENCE INN ALEXANDRIA OLD TOWN / DUKE STREET

This was a normal 24 hour trip to DC to visit friends-- in & out. Property was great for what I needed-- close to airport, booked on points, easy peasy. Well, until it was time for me to check-out and catch my flight home out of DCA-- I asked if I could take the hotel shuttle to the metro station down the road-- it's not far but I had my bags so I thought, why not? Sebastian took me promptly and safely and that was that. Except, well it wasn't. I apparently dropped my phone (with all my credit cards/ID) upon exiting the shuttle and didn't realize until I was going to pay my metro fare...oops. So I assumed I had left it in the shuttle-- so I huffed it back to the hotel to grab it from the shuttle, except, it wasn't in the shuttle. But not to worry-- Sebastian suggested we call it and see if anyone has grabbed it...and next thing you know we're talking to Sid, a good samaritan who had picked it up and was walking to his job from the Metro. He was going to keep it safe...so Sebastian and I packed up my bag again and headed off in the shuttle to find Sid (with my phone, ID& money). About 5 minutes later we had found Sid walking to his job and I was reunited with my only way home. Without Sebastian going over & above I would be likely talking security into allowing me on a flight...and how I would have gotten to the airport with zero money....no idea. This morning reinforced my belief that people out here really want to help others. I'll forever be grateful to Sebastian for playing a leading role in this story-- 5 stars to say the very least.

Hotel is nice. The front desk staff went above and beyond to help me out. But they block Fox News for some reason. The channel shows up in the lineup, but it’s just a black screen. Kind of ridiculous.

Clean hotel in a convenient location with parking. pros: -easy parking in attached deck -clean room and common areas -large room with kitchen -great location--walkable to most of Old Town Alexandria -near Metro for trips into DC cons: -most of staff was difficult to communicate with due to language barriers -breakfast was just okay good to know: -parking deck has multiple levels with different ceiling heights--there were all sorts of vehicles parked without issue--turns are tight and spaces kind of narrow -quiet rooms on back side facing cemetery -parking fee $50/day as of August 2026
