I've had good experiences with SpringHill Suites recently, so that led me to this booking in DC. Unfortunately there was a significant problem however.
The drive into the property is a bit odd on maps, so just realize this. Especially at night. The hotel is tucked away.
There is a combination of surface and garage parking. The fee is $15 per day. The lot was tidy as was the walk up to their door.
The lobby is on the second floor. No issues with a late check in after 9 PM. The room key worked, the room was clean and prepared for my arrival.
The layout of toilet and shower is uniquely separated which works. The shower was amazing. King bed, sheets and pillow all comfortable. The desk chair may be the most uncomfortable hotel chair I've ever sat on.
MAJOR ISSUE... no climate control. This was immediately identified and room was 74°. I called the front desk on and off for over an hour and kept being told to hold. At around 11 PM they acknowledged the issue, brought up bottles of cold water and even offered to move me. Supposedly the staff said they had worked on HVAC in 424 before my stay. Seriously, no way I'm going to move now.
Poor night of sleep, missed breakfast. Discussed issue with manager on duty. Only authorized to provide free parking. Escalated to 6000 points.
Not happy, would not return. 2.5 rounding up with so many good things about this property. If no HVAC issues would have been 4 to 5 star easily.

The first few days were good. We checked in on Sunday, and were due to check out the following Sunday. Front desk staff are friendly, but spinless when it comes to dealing with guests who are disruptive.
That Thursday, a large group of people from Nigeria checked in and the entire place went straight to H*ll! There was door slamming and children unsupervised running up and down halls, between floors, the stairs going room to room, all night and day. Not to mention banging against walls, loud talking all day and night in the halls and just plain rude behavoir. They behaved like animals.
They were bringing unsavory individuals to the hotel and it make for a very unsafe atmosphere going to and from your room and to even walk your dog in at night. I would dial "91" on my phone just incase I needed to hit the last 1 in a hurry. People were sitting on cars and on the bench outside the hotel smoking marijuana. It could be smelled inside the entrance doors and the hallways of the hotel. With the "non paying" guest taking up most of the parking, it became almost impossible to find a place to park at night, and I was concerned for the safety of my vehicle.
Once we repeatedly complained and were on the verge of calling the police, we were asked if we were checking out. Suddenly because we wanted to enjoy the stay we had paid for, as was our right, now we are the problem for complaing. These people made the hotel into their own "24-7 party palace"
This hotel, which is nolonger corporate Marriott, yet they carry the name. So don't be fooled. It's just a tacky, dusty hotel that caters to low-life people. They prioritize filling rooms over customer comfort. Not to mention I am of a near "Ambassador" status.
The room was clean, however, the sink was slow draining, the shower door was slow draing and the toliet needed to be flushed manually after every use. I would have been better off staying in my tent on top of my car and just finding a place to shower everyday.
Do yourself a favor and don't stay at this this place. If you do, don't say you weren't warned.

This hotel is in the middle of NOWHERE. Why they use Old Town Alexandria in the address is because no one else would stay here if they didn’t. I got here later in the evening and I asked how long it would take to take an Uber into Old Town and I was told at least 10 minutes. I asked how far DCA airport was and she said it was at least 20 minutes, but possibly more depending upon traffic.
Do not stay here thinking you’re close to Old Town Alexandria because you absolutely are not. They should not be allowed to use Old Town to describe this location. Maybe if you had a car and you wanted to drive everywhere and you didn’t mind staying in the middle of nowhere it would be a via option. The cost for the hotel in the middle of nowhere is ridiculous.
I’m a Marriott member. I stay at Marriott all the time but this one total scam.
