Holiday Inn D C Capitol at The Smithsonian

Just got back from a DC trip where we stayed at this hotel. From check-in, throughout the visit, at the restaurants and to check-out we encountered the friendliest, most helpful staff I have ever encountered at a hotel. They went above and beyond. One of our rooms was not quite ready at check in time, but they kept us well informed, offered us free water while we waited, and just bent over backwards to make sure we were okay. They honored our request to have rooms close together, and were very responsive to any question we had. Without even asking, they offered us additional bed pillows, and we received at least one text every day checking in to make sure our stay was going well. The rooms were clean and well air conditioned. Mostly quiet except for sounds of a train going by that is close to the hotel. Blackout curtains did a good job. They did not have a microwave in the room (probably the only thing I would suggest adding) but they did have a microwave down by the little market place near check-in. Other than the restaurants in the hotel, there aren't a lot of dinnertime eating options within walking distance (plenty for breakfast and lunch, though), but there are always cabs just out front to take you wherever you need (and they were priced competitively to Uber/Lyft). The service we received from the staff was what really pushed this to a 5 star experience and guarantees we will come back.

I love the proximity of the Holiday Inn hotel in DC. We are close to all of the best museums and everything important to us is in walking distance. The staff is very professional and helpful. This stay is a blessing.
