Friendly proprietors that take pride in the property, very clean, has a bit of charm for a chain (ex. lights from the awning). Not exactly walkable to the historic area but close and reasonable convenient to Busch Gardens, Colonial Parkway as well. Older property with very small bathrooms, imperfect soundproofing between floors, some rooms opening to exterior. Basic continental breakfast. Two Econolodges are very close to each other -- check addresses.

The room is clean and the bed was acceptable. Pool looked clean however weather prevented us from using it because it’s outdoors. Our room was on the main level and unfortunately the lights used in the walk area is extremely bright and the room was brightly lit all night long! We woke up several times thinking it was morning! The breakfast provided is very scarce and if you want something to drink with your breakfast it actually cost extra! We left quickly and would not stay again.

I stayed here over the weekend with my husband and my parents. Overall, we had a fair experience.
Pros:
1. Reasonably priced the choice privileges points; 12,000 points per night for a room that was $120.
2. Clean and appeared newly remodeled inside the room.
3. No carpet in the room, again this make it seem cleaner.
4. Clean and bright bathroom. Great hot water and water pressure for the shower.
5. Easy parking, near our room.
6. Pool was nice, small but clean and we had it to ourselves on Friday afternoon.
7. Great location near Busch Gardens and Water County.
Cons:
1. Gentleman at the front desk did not speak much – I gave him our name at check in and he provided a sheet of paper that was already printed from a stack of papers – I booked my stay with Choice Privileges Points, the “rate” section was blank, no $0, paid with points, or prepaid indication…. I really had to ask to make sure that my stay was taken care of with points. I had my licenses and credit card in my hand when we walked in and he held out his hand wanting these items but did not actually ask for them verbally – it felt slightly odd. When I checked out no receipt was provided and the man just said “okay” and that was it. Therefore, the consumer service was minimal and odd. I will be watching my credit card to be sure I don’t receive any charges.
2. Very flat pillows.
3. Only 3 towels and 3 wash clothes provided for a reservation for 4 adults…..instead of trying to talk to the man at the front desk we ended up just sharing.
4. Saturday morning there were police in the parking lot and they questioned us if we saw anything suspicious the night before between 9-11 PM. They were professional and kind. Apparently, someone’s car was rummaged through that night. Nothing seemed odd to us and the area seemed safe so this could have been a one off experience.
5. Sunday morning starting before 8 AM someone was extremely loud with yard equipment, trimming trees and leaf blowing – this was a rude awaken and lasted hours not just a few minutes so that was unpleasant.
6. No elevator – little tricky with luggage and would not be handicap accessible but we were able to manage since it was only 2 floors.
