Centralia Square Grand Ballroom & Hotel

Even without a front desk, room access was easy with plenty of text communication for accessing our room before arrival. Room 201 was roomy, clean with a nice living room right next to the 2nd floor balcony. The hotel is walking distance to restaurants and a grocery store. The 2nd floor balcony could be a noise problem for that room if people are out late talking, but a cold late September evening helped ensure no one was there. Train noise and traffic was a bit of a problem. There is no gym, pool or breakfast, but we knew that going in. The downstairs restaurant, Berry Fields Cafe, serves excellent and huge breakfasts.

The Centralia Hotel gets points for its charm and authenticity. There's a lot to love about its historic interior and desire to maintain its charm. Where it loses points is in terms of overall comfort and the availability of its staff. While they're proudly family-run, this tended to translate into a lack of support on-site, especially during the wedding we attended at the venue. Having a regularly attended front desk, some kind of breakfast option, and improved bathroom facilities would all go a long way.

This is the most fabulous hotel. The building was built in 1920. It still has that feel but has modern updates. When we checked in and learned the rooms had no tv, we were quite surprised. However we didn’t miss it at all. It was nice to get away from it. The rooms are very spacious and so beautiful! They have a great restaurant, called Berryfields, which I also reviewed as outstanding. In all of our travels I will remember this hotel the most. If you have the opportunity to stay here you won’t regret it!
