Park Center Hotel

We chose this hotel based upon the rating, and the fact that there are very few hotels in this location. Check in was fine. Going out to our room, we had to pass through an outside courtyard, which has seen better days, and needs to be cleaned. Getting to our room, the immediate smell was of the previous guest's cologne. The cologne was even present in the pillow. There was black mold possibly from condensation, on the inside window frame. The threshold of the door was not sealed so you could see the light from the outside, which literally is the "outside". It was large enough that a mouse could easily get in. The room was dated and needed paint. Using the toilet, there was a 6 inch spot on the wall where they had painted over just that spot and it was a different color than the rest of the wall. There was a very long hair, like 24+ inches long, that had been stuck to the wall. The sinks were low enough for a child to use. We could hear the neighbor's TV all night long, as well as them talking. We could hear the people above us walking around. We could hear the people talking in the parking lot. At about midnight it sounded like there were about 6 gunshots out the window, loud enough to wake both my wife and I from sleeping. The next morning I took my dog outside, and there was a possible homeless couple that had slept all night in their car in the parking lot. The breakfast among other things, a selection of stale bread and stale cereal. I would not recommend anyone staying here, especially at near $200 a night.

Some staff are quite rude. I went for breakfast around 840 and the breakfast closes at 900 - which is pretty random considering it is just a continental breakfast - cereal, bread, yogurt and waffle mix - not even any pastries. There was no milk and the waffle mix was out. I told this to the young dark haired man at the front desk. He didn't say anything to me such as "Sorry" or "I'll get that right away" but simply walked away and about 5 minutes later returned with a milk. That's when I noticed the waffle mix was empty and I pointed it out to him after he brought the milk and asked him to refill it. Again, he didn't say a word and simply walked away. Another 5 minutes pass with no waffle mix and no front desk guy so I walk out to find him sitting there again. I remind him of the missing waffle mix and he finally says his first words: "There would be no benefit to getting the waffle mix because there are only 10 minutes left". I responded, "There would be a benefit to me and my son because then we would get waffles for breakfast". Again, no response. I wondered if this guy is a relative of the owner because he acted like the milk and waffle mix came out of his own paycheck and he didn't feel like there would be any consequences to treating guests like they are inconveniences. The lady at the front desk was much nicer when I told her my hair dryer didn't work and she later brought a working one to my room. All in all, the hotel room was overpriced considering this is not a major travel destination, the hotel is old and needs renovations, the rooms are outside entry and the breakfast is cheap even by continental breakfast standards. Save your money and find a chain hotel.

I’m elderly with bad knees and back. The website I reviewed did not mention a second floor with no elevator. Guess where we were placed?! No flexibility to move us. The toilet was very low and again hurt my knees to bend so low but the worst part was when my husband sat on the throne his private parts got wet. When I went to wipe from front to back, my hand dipped into the toilet water! Ewww The coffee maker did not work. They did find a spare one after telling us they had no spares. Four cups of coffee but only two packs of sugar for all four cups of coffee! We take three packs of sugar per cup so guess how awful the black coffee tasted to us?? No hair dryer in the bathroom. Was told if there wasn’t one on the wall, they had none at the front desk for us. My hair gets frizzy without a hair dryer so guess who looked like crap after her shower? Great impression I made to my husband’s coworkers!! The refrigerator leaked all over the floor. We mopped it up with a towel but the next morning I stepped in another puddle of water and got my socks wet for the day. I felt just great what with bad coffee, frizzy hair and wet socks! The refrigerator also did not cool our leftovers down much. So we were afraid to munch on leftovers the next day. On a good note: The shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and body wash were all great! The bed and pillows were comfortable sleeping. It was located near a lot of places to eat. The patio was beautiful. There were a bunch of dead stems in the flower boxes outside the rooms but hey! The patio was nice! A nice place to sit on the porch and enjoy the nice weather. Air conditioning was super! That oughta do it for an honest review…
