Bedbugs! Bedbugs! The place was a s**thole. I stayed at Hometown Studios by Red Roof in Spokane Valley on July 25th, 2026. It was a horrible experience. I took both sheets and the bedspread to the front desk because they had many red and black spots indicating bedbugs. Mac, a guy, gave me new sheets. Mac said "Oh my god, that's horrible". The plastic covering on the mattress was even worse. The maids obviously weren't doing their job. I went to Mac several times for ice, and they didn't have ice, and a new lightbulb. He eventually gave me a bulb from a lamp in the lobby. The girl the next morning also said that was a horrible thing. I called to get a refund, which the girl said I should get. My wife called and the woman on the desk was rude and unhelpful. She said Mac did not make notes about the bedbug sheets, so she would not give a refund. I asked for the manager, and she said she was sick and not available. I threw my pillow away, which was anexpensive buckwheat pillow that I had brought. I had to buy another pillow. I absolutely do not recommend this place to anyone. Dean Ratzman

You get what you pay for but in this case, still not worth it. The price was a little higher due to it being a busy weekend in spokane. The kitchen area was nice with having the microwave, stove and refrigerator. The shower was decent because it has this little seat in it but the curtains were so short that water would spill onto th floor. I has to have 3 towels to catch the water and they were all soaked. No shampoo/conditioner bottles. The TV was okay except ith mine, I couldn't turn th volume down so I had to shut the TV off, turn back on and refind my channel. The lighting is terrible. The 2nd night, I got random whiffs of urine smell. I will never stay here again. The front desk employees were nice but the hotel itself was not.

OK, so I've been waiting to see if the company would step up and refund our money for the hotel we left in Spokane Valley before posting but they are refusing so here is the story. On Friday 4/5/24, we booked a room at HomeTowne Studios by Red Roof Spokane Valley. We were checked in to the room long enough to take our baggage up and take a quick look (maybe 10-15 minutes max) before we went back to the office to try to get a refund and cancel the 2 nights we had booked. The room wasn't just run down, it was completely disgusting. I have plenty of pictures that I will post. The least worrisome was the holes in the comforter and missing light fixture in the hallway next to the elevator. From there it gets WAY worse. The buttons on the elevator look like they have NEVER seen a rag or water. The curtains in other windows walking down to our room had large spots of orange and brown stains on the back of them. Once we got to our room the door and the door frame look like they have also NEVER seen a rag or water. Getting into the room there was an immediate smell of mold/mildew. There were at least 3 to 4 holes in the comforter on the bed. Looking around there were black and brown spots on our "clean" bath towels. There were brown spots of who knows what all over the shower floor/soap shelf. There was a liquid line coming down from behind the bathroom mirror towards the sink. The sink was dirty and there was BLACK MOLD all the way down the grout of the shower base. Every wall in the room was dirty and the inside of the door was completely disgusting along with something brown all down the bottom of the door frame. We got a room with a kitchenette so we could possibly cook something instead of just eating out. The kitchen area wasn't just dirty but it was unusable. There was grease and food chunks all over the wall around the stove top. The stove top was totally rusted out and didn't look safe to use. The knobs on the stove were gray/brown like they haven't been cleaned in who knows how long. The countertop was broken and the cabinets were dirty. When we opened the cabinet under the sink in the kitchenette the mold/mildew smell in the room got 100 times worse. After seeing enough of this we went down to the office trying to cancel the reservation. We waited to speak to the lady until the other people in the office that came in after us were done checking in, in order to not cause a scene in front of other customers. When speaking to her she said she wasn't allowed to authorize refunds so she would have to reach out to her manager and we would also have to contact priceline since we booked through them. Ok we can be patient so we went upstairs and took pictures and got our stuff out of the room and called priceline. We were told by priceline that there was no cancelation available because the hotel didn't allow it. We weren't going to stay no matter what. We went back to the office and the lady in the office said that "Don't tell anyone that I was the one that said this but Priceline can at least cancel the second day for you". She also said that her manager said no to refunding that day because we had already checked in. Please tell me how we could know how bad the room was before we checked in. It's not like they put those pictures on the site when trying to get people to book them. Anyways, we called Priceline again who put us on hold to contact the hotel in order to get confirmation that they were ok with refunding the second day. Go figure, they wouldn't answer the phone to talk to priceline. So the next day priceline got in contact with the hotel who unsurprisingly said they were not ok with priceline canceling the reservation for/refunding the second day. So after many days of back and forth they have finally agreed to refund the second day but still won't refund the first night because we "checked in". We spent MAYBE a grand total of an hour at that hotel. That included the time waiting to talk to the lady in the office and the time trying to contact priceline and taking pictures. Thankfully we were able to book another room through another company that was WAY better, so we weren't stuck there and our trip wasn't totally ruined. We didn't want to immediately put this out there in case the hotel stepped up and took care of our situation but they have refused and now the reviews will start. So anyone going to Spokane, stay FAR FAR away from the Hometowne Studios in Spokane Valley.
