Tamarind Reef Resort

Extremely friendly staff helped us have a great stay. The crew at the Deep End Bar were the greatest!! Strong drinks, good food and a great atmosphere. Will definitely be coming back.

Having stayed here years ago, I knew what to expect... A friendly reception staff, great ocean front location and good bar and restaurant. Nothing fancy here, just a relaxing, reasonably priced hotel. The Deep End restaurant has a new owner and serves very good food and drinks.

The Good: >> Rooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable. >> Staff was very friendly and helpful >> The pool was great. Clean and well maintained. It's a saltwater pool, so no chlorine. >> The ocean views are wonderful. The Bad: >> You cannot swim from the beach. It's rocks and coral at the strand line so unless you have swim shoes, do not wade in the water. >> The place needs some TLC. There is some exterior decay. >>The TV in the room had black areas on the screen edge indicating it is time to it. >> The security safe didn't work. >> There are 6 ocean kayaks available, but only 3 life jackets. Some of the equipment, like the seats, were worn out, indicating a lack of maintenance. >> There is no WIFI. >> The spa was closed As others have said, rent a car if you want to get around. We didn't. Taxi rides into Christiansted are $22 each way for two people. We also ran into a problem hopefully no one else will have. The restaurant at the resort closed without warning for renovations when a new owner took over during the middle of our stay. The new owner took pity on us and provided breakfast and paid for lunch one day. We managed to stretch out leftovers to cover the rest of the trip. And yes, the roosters will wake you up at 0600. That being said, roosters and chickens have the run of the whole island, so I suspect you may find that problem elsewhere.
