Hanoi View

My family & I started & finished our month-long Vietnam vacation at the Icon 36 with 2 rooms for 4 nights Feb 5-7/20 and then again for our last night on Feb 28-29/20. We chose this place because the reviews were decent and the price was lower than anywhere else within walking distance to Hoan Kiem Lake, Train Street, Water Puppet shows & all the restaurants/cafes we wanted to try. The location was great with a 7-11 and laundromat right across the street and everything else was walkable (within half an hour). The staff were very nice, informative, and helpful with any questions we had. The free breakfast buffet was good with some nice options that changed daily. The lobby and rooms were nice; however, the windows did not face outside, just a brick wall. We would definitely consider staying here again when we return to Hanoi.

Arrived late at night very tired to be told there is an issue with the room ( water pipe or something similar) and that we needed to take a short walk down the road to the sister hotel. Upon arriving the room we were given was NOTHING like the photos advertised online. For the money payed we were both dissapointed with the quality of this room. Having read other reviews it’s clear other people have experienced similar so I believe this may be a small scam. The room we were given was worth half the amount payed.

First of all, i would like to thanks for their earlier approaching regarding the arrangement.  However, I would like to make a complaint regarding the room’s quality. At First, the room being arranged to another hotel in another roadside, but we are still okay with as we can reaching by walking distance but it has broke the ethics code.  Furthermore, I would like to point out the room’s quality is worst and worst. The first room that the servicing crew brought us is room number 704. The paint’s smell mixing around with the old furniture smell, you cant really want to stay for another five minutes more,but it’s a plus point that your staff allocated a perfume, but the perfume smell really not our type. I think This type of ROOM shouldn’t be served in this society.  After our complaint, their staff brought us to the room number 801 with hot water not functioning properly and a water pressure drops like a you definitely never see in any bathroom. You can refer to your staff for further.  At the next early morning, we immediate ask for a new room, the lady staff even blame us why not to request immediate once we got the room. Lastly, please do not believe on those review on online booking website as they might pay to change/amend the review. Attached Photo cockroaches inside breakfast dish
