The Jasmine Hotel

It’s difficult to see how all there are so many good reviews, although most of the places we stayed in Hanoi offered incentives to leave good reviews. This hotel is in a good location and the lobby entrance is really nice, with really friendly reception staff and concierge. That’s probably where the good points end. The rooms were really damp and despite the walls being recently painted (along with splashes all over the furniture), it was already blistering and peeling with the damp. The bed lined and duvets were old and badly stained. The breakfast, which everyone praises in reviews, was the worst we had in Vietnam - you order from a menu, but what arrives does nothing to resemble the pictures in the menu and is all heated in the microwave, see attached photos. The guy running the breakfast was not friendly at all. We had a room with a balcony, which was pretty grim and dirty. The location is good, but there are so many better options in the same price range in this area, we would not recommend staying here.

I just keep coming back to La Selva!! So much to say about this hotel! When you walk in it feels very comfortable but classy too! Jackie's had the lobby redone and it is beautiful! Jackie is the manager that is a stickler for detail, always available for guidance, scheduling tours, seeing that your stay is all that you want it to be! The staff are always pleasant and willing to help in any way they can! The hotel is 2 minutes walk to Hoan Kim Lake, 2 blocks to Cao St that has many small mom pop restaurants serving different soups, Bun Cha, and other dishes. The rooms at the hotel are clean daily, beds are comfortable and a reasonable amount of plug ins Shower always has hot water. The airconditioning works great with some rooms with small balconies. Breakfast is Alacarte and all you can eat. Service is good. I've been to La Selva over 6 times and not once have i had a bad stay! The price is more than reasonable. It is definitely a Go to Hotel!!
