CWD Hotel

This is a very comfortable hotel located in a great part of town. It is within walking distance of one of Hanoi's great lakes, along with cafes, bars, shops etc. However this is also a part of town in which everyday Vietnamese life is lived, making the experience a notch above that in an average tourist/backpacker hotel! If choosing to stay here, make sure you get up early on at least one morning and walk around the lake. So much local social life takes place here at this time (dancing, exercising, fishing). I was also fortunate to have a room with views of the lake .....The Hotel itself is clean and comfy and the service is very good. Buffet breakfast has something to suit a range of tastes. The facilities - bathroom, bed comfort, aircon - are on a par with a medium priced hotel in Australia. There is free in room WiFi. Perhaps the best aspect of this hotel however, is that you can have all of the above, while supporting a social enterprise. As I understand it profits are ploughed back into activities to support Vietnamese women, especially those suffering various forms of violence and exploitation.

This hotel is wonderful! Great location next to the lake meaning your room may have a beautiful view. Also many good shops, bars, cafes pharmacies etc are close by. I would recommend walking to the cafes right by the lake at night (5 min walk from hotel). The rooms are spacious, clean, modern, well equipped. The a/c is decent which was essential for me! Friendly staff. Delicious food, and very good at catering to me as a vegetarian. Also fantastic buffet breakfast that is included, with a lot of choice.
