Good points: reasonably clean rooms (when you could get one); good location in the old quarter. Bad points: told to go away and check in later; allocated 3 different rooms over the course of a 4 day stay; renovations in progress during our stay (including in our actual room and the lobby; roof vent rattled all night every night; mouse poo in the cereal at breakfast; tv in room but no tv signal; steep stairs mopped precisely at check out time; hotel staffed by rude adolescents.

My friend and I stayed in Hanoi Queen Plaza, although the sign said Hanoi Queen Plaza 2, it was at the same address from the 5 Dec to the 10 Dec. Our first impressions were that the place was kept very clean and the room was decent with a large, if outlandishly hard, king bed and the standard bathroom with a bathtub/shower. Even though we had booked a twin room, we accepted that room seeing as it was no big deal. The hotel staff were very friendly when we checked in and the lady at the front desk was very helpful when we asked where we should go to eat and sightsee. While the location is close to Hoan Kiem Lake, Water Puppet Theatre and anywhere else you would want to go. That was the good. The bad part began when my friend and I went to go to Halong Bay for 2 nights. We checked out the room after staying for 2 nights and asked them to hold our luggage for when we would return and stay at the hotel again for another 2 nights. Unfortunately, when we returned, the lady at the front desk informed us that the room had a sick couple who could not be moved, and said since the hotel was full, if we could move to their sister hotel called the Old Street Hotel, and that transportation would be paid for and at no extra cost since we had already paid for the full 4 nights. The sister hotel ended up being cheaper than the one we were originally in ($25 US a night), and the Hanoi Queen Plaza was not really full. They just rented out the room to other tourists and effectively get more money from the same room. We paid $45 US for a twin room, and at that price, you could find a better room at a nicer hotel. The moral of the story is not to stay at this hotel, and be wary when hotel staff tell you that the hotel is full booked (even when you booked a room), or can we please move you to our sister hotel- no matter what the reason. Just ask for your money back.

I booked and payed for 6 nights in this hotel - in between I went to Halong Bay for 2 nights. While I was gone, the manager removed all my stuff from the room and rented it out to other guests. I came back earlier than planned and caught her red-handed. I found all my clothes in a plastic bag behind the front desk. The manager even lied to me and said the room was being re-furnished / I found other people staying in it. Other than that, it's a clean hotel.
