Golden River

We had three rooms for four nights and it was a good experience. This hotel is nothing fancy and it's tucked away in the northern part of the old quarter of Hanoi. But the rooms were clean and comfortable and incredible value. We paid about US$25 including a plain but adequate breakfast. The staff were terrific - spoke good English and were always bright and helpful. They even gave us all a gift when we left. Their web descriptions probably over-sell the place, but it's more than adequate if you're looking for good value in the old quarter with plenty of local colour. And if you're a whimp about local food, there's even a hamburger chain right next door...
