Pros: -Location is very central -- you're a short walk from many attractions (for tourists) and close to both major business areas (for business travelers) -Two fast elevators means no long waits like at some boutique hotels -Fruit selection at breakfast buffet was relatively good Cons: -The lobby stinks of stale smoke, like the furniture your smoking grandparents have had for 50 years. They still allow smoking. -The room design is dated, bland, and feels cheap. -Other than fruit, breakfast food was uninspired. -The wifi was unreliable; the networks kept needing to be reset. -The staff's English is exceptionally poor by local standards, and strangely their Japanese didn't seem much better. In summary, I wouldn't have been disappointed if this place had cost around US$40 per night, but it's definitely not worth what I paid. And even in the $40 range, you should be able to do better on everything except perhaps location.

The hotel is in a good location of HCMC but the non-smoking room smelled of smoke and I had to use the wifi of of one of the private businesses that were on the same floor of the hotel as my room. The complementary breakfast was good but I will probably find a different place to say if I ever return.

In 2007 when we were constructing the Omon Power Plant in Cantho , Pastel Inn was one of the hotels we stayed while in HCM. Other Japanese colleagues also stayed here , before we traveled to Cantho. The rooms very clean and services were good. Its close proximity to other sites like the Notre Dame Cathedral and many shops.
