Budget Hostel 2

If we had blindly walked in to City Hotel, we would have guessed the property to be a 4 star hotel. The rooms were impeccably clean and the washrooms were large and Fantastic. The staff members were excellent and probably the best hotel staffers we came across in Viet Nam. They delighted us with their sincere services, smiles, respect and etc. Almost all were seasoned graduates from Uni specializing in Tourism and Hospitality. A stone throw away from all High Quality eating houses. I would discourage shopping at Ben Thanh market which is 3 minutes walk from the Hotel. The market is over rated and many scams are apparent within the 1st 30 minutes of your stay. The sales staff at Ben Thanh market are rude and could bargain well below the 50% of the marked bogus price tags. A Toyota Car would cost you 40,000 Dong from the Giant Ibis bus terminal located 1.4Kms from the city. The Phnom Penh to Ho Chi Min City(HCMC) Giant ibis terminal at HCMC is surrounded by bogus, dodgy taxi drivers who would literally lift you and put in their respective vehicles before starting the brutal scamming acts. The airport transport via Grab came to 121,000 Dong. The breakfast is prepared by a less adventurous chef with no or less imagination. All in all this hotel is an excellent, Must ma Go Place.

The city hotel (35 location) was very good and we recommend it. The hotel is very basic, but clean with a nice bed and shower. The location is very convenient and right next to the night market and Ben Thành market!! The front desk staff and security guards were very kind, welcoming, helpful and attentive during our stay. They helped us arrange excellent small group tours and call taxis. Breakfast menu is extensive. Thanks for a great stay!!

The City Hotel is definitely well located, you can reach everything by foot.The rooms were very clean and ours was also quite spacious and nicely furnished. We picked one with a window, but if you are a light sleeper this might not be the best idea since windows are in general very badly isolated (which makes sense due to the climate) and let a lot of noise in. Staff was also very nice and helpful,you get a free small water every day. Breakfast although was average at best, the Vietnamese options were OK, the "Western" breakfast options really not. You also only get one tiny drink, for everything else you pay extra. The hotels entrance looks basically like a shop, and there is no real lobby. Besides that, the hotel gets locked up over night, which is quite inconvenient when you are a smoker. The hotel is fine if you have a limited budget but don't want to stay as basic as at a hostel.If you can, try to invest a little more money and get a nice more upscale hotel, there are plenty.
