Pha Le Hotel

the room is full furniture, clean the staff is friendly The price is good and it's in District 1 which is the best district to be in for sightseeing, entertainment, restaurants, you need to stay a few days to discover all these things. I booked the deluxe room as the standard rooms are much smaller. It had a mini bar, safe, window views, tv, bathtub & shower in the bathtub. It was clean and the mattress comfortable.

I stayed here for about 3 nights and I was disappointed when I was escorted to my room. First of all, I had booked a room with a balcony and a city view and when I was taken to my room the room was located in the back of the hotel with no balcony and city view. I told the guy who escorted me to my room that the room was not what I booked online and besides that the air condition was not on. The room was so hot that I was sweating profusely. We went back downstairs to the front desk and told the young lady receptionist that the room I was given was not what I booked online and I showed her my itinerary. She said the type of room I booked was not available because they were remodeling it. I insisted that I get the room I booked. She looked in the computer and she said that there was a room but had two beds so I told her that I will take it. When I got to the room, the room smelled like mildew and a bit dated. After I got situated in the room, I went to the balcony. Hhhmmmm, the balcony was so small that the air condition unit took half of the balcony and it was shallow. I told myself at least it had a street view. The two young receptionist spoke very limited English but there was a gentleman who spoke it well. I think he was the manager. They were all very nice besides the language barrier. When I got there mind you it was monsoon season. I asked the young ladies for the nearest place to go and sat(pho) and o was directed to a couple of building away. Overall, for the price I paid nightly is a few more American Dollars than staying at a hostel a few blocks away. It's in a great location where a lot of inexpensive eateries are within walking distance. If you are into Starbucks there is one two blocks away on your left when step out of the hotel and they are open at 6am with a free one hour wifi access. The hotel does not have a good map that they provide but Starbucks gave me a really good one which is a tourist booklet. I was able to walk to the Central Post Office, Museums and the Big Market(I forgot what it was called). There really are a lot to do within walking distance to the hotel so it is nicely situated to everything. If you don't like talk, there are a lot of motor bikes around that you can hop on. A caution if you plan on going to go a few blocks away where most of the Hostels are located. This area is located about two blocks away from the hotel straight ahead if you were standing I front of the hotel. When I was at a tour guide office, the young woman told me to keep my cell phone in my pocket and not to hold it in my hands. She said that area is notorious for people on motor bikes to snag your phone as they pass you. She also told me a story that someone went into their office and stole her purse. My suggestion is bring a backpack and out your personal belongings in it(that's what I do when I travel). I would have given this hotel a better rating if it wasn't for the smell, decorum, English barrier of the female receptionist.

The hotel is not a "wow" one but the staff wanted to make sure I fully enjoyed my stay and showed me few more rooms as I wasn't satisfied with the one I've been assigned. The location is perfect, the breakfast with small choice however I highly recommend this hotel.
