Sonnet Saigon Hotel

When we arrived, there were boxes and packed furniture in the entrance area. We waited in vain for a friendly greeting. The room was tiny. Electrical cables from the old wall lamp were hanging on the wall. The curtains were torn, there were large gaps between the panels in the floor. The socket in the bathroom didn't work, and when you pulled out the hairdryer you would end up holding it in your hand, which could be dangerous. There was a note on the table about the minibar that was so dirty and full of stains that it was disgusting. The floor display in the elevator didn't work, so you had to look carefully where you were before you wanted to get out. In the hallway, the door to the emergency stairs was ALWAYS open. Firstly, the heat from outside came in, and secondly, it didn't give a sense of security. Anyone could have gotten in. In some rooms, the door was open and you could see that there was a construction site. There was hardly any choice for breakfast. 1 type of bread. 1 type of juice. The coffee didn't taste good. The hot food was cold. There were half hard-boiled eggs on a plate that looked old and every day they looked the same as the day before. On the last day there was not even any butter. They put out a packet of margarine that looked and tasted rancid. Others in our group had similar conditions, with non-functioning sockets, air conditioning and blocked toilets. The hotel staff seemed to not be particularly interested. We were probably the last guests before a complete renovation. We then found out that there had been a change of ownership. Hopefully the new one will do better. This was by far the worst hotel of our entire trip. The only good thing was the central location.

We were very disappointed with this hotel. The reception area was good. It is hotel with no facilities apart from a very average breakfast. The rooms are very tired and could do with updating. The air conditioning was working in our room but very noisy . Won’t go again

Tiny room on the 10th floor. Room just big enough for a bed. Flooring rotting near.the window. Room a bit smelly when I check in but not objectionable. Whilst not having used it for solids the toilet somehow backed up overnight and woke up at.7 am to an almost overflowing toilet which was quite disgusting. On contacting the front desk I was told nothing could be done until the maintenance staff came later in the morning.
