My family and I recently had the pleasure of staying at Tuana Hotels-Sonaga Beach Resort, located in the heart of Phu Quoc. This resort has the perfect blend of amenities for a family to have an unforgettable experience.
We stayed in one of the villas, but also you can choose to stay at the main hotel. Each villa has its own private pool! Our villa was the perfect size for a family of four.
We have a four-year-old and a 10 month old. They have an enormous waterslide which was too big for my four year-old. However, they did have a smaller water play and slide area into a very shallow pool for smaller kids. There is a giant mushroom that has a fountain coming out of it! My four-year-old son loved it.
There is an infinity pool, which is suitable for all ages. The initial shallow part of the pool only goes up to an adult’s shins, which was the perfect depth for my four-year-old to play in. The pool then has two different levels that gradually get deeper up to 4 feet deep at the deepest. There is a poolside bar that serves all sorts of drinks and the pool looks out onto the sea. My son and I spent most of our time at the pool as it was the perfect place to relax and have some fun swimming. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive to whatever we needed.
Another amenity for the kids was the kids playroom. This was a huge room filled with slides, a ball pit, a trampoline, a basketball hoop, and many other toys to play with. There was also a very attentive staff that was there to help play with the kids. This was my son’s favorite place in the whole resort. One day he spent four hours playing there.
We even had the pleasure to meet the general manager, Stefon Nguyen, who was at the pool to make sure that we had everything we needed. He truly loves his job and is very good at what he does. It is refreshing to be at a place where the leader is leading by example and treated everyone, even his staff with the utmost respect.
The stay comes with a buffet style breakfast, which is included in your stay. They have a good blend of Vietnamese food and food from other countries as well.
Up by the dining area, they have another affinity pool and a bar where people can play pool.
Unfortunately, we did not get to experience swimming at the beach due to it being the rainy season. The waves and current were very strong, so the resort advised that people do not go in the water. We were still able to walk on the beach and enjoy the sunset though. The benefit to going to the resort during the rainy season or slow season is that you pretty much have the resort to yourself. There are people there, but not a lot. During the busy season , everyone can swim at the beach, but there will be a lot of people because it is a very popular travel destination. The resort has multiple infinity, pools and pool areas for the kids, so it was still extremely enjoyable, even without being able to swim in the sea.
This was by far the best experience I have ever had at a hotel or resort. I cannot recommend this place enough for travelers of any age.
