Me done a wonderful service for all of us at the pool bar

This hotel is, on the surface, very good. However I need to describe many problems, which detracted from the enjoyment of our stay. Firstly, the hotel itself does not cater very well for mobility-impaired guests. There are steps everywhere. Even getting into our room involves a step. The corridor to our room has a small dip, down and up - for no apparent reason. Even getting to breakfast involves descending a spiral staircase, with no nearby lift (apparently there is one, but it’s way out of the way). A wheelchair user would not be able to stay here. The room is clunky. There is very little usable surface space. Even the space between the bathroom sinks was taken up by a large tray - which I had to move elsewhere, so we could put our toiletries there. My wife’s make-up table also had a huge wooden tray for a candle and a joss stick occupying half the space, restricting her ability to use it: I had to move it off. The bathtub looks good - but it is completely circular, and not wide enough to lie down in. I normally like my baths, but this is far too small to be usable. The hotel location is way out of the way in the middle of nowhere. There are no local shops or markets, so you either have to pay for transport elsewhere if you want to go out (approx £20 EACH WAY to Hoi Anh, according to Google); or pay Western prices to eat at the resort itself. The service leaves a lot to be desired. The staff do try hard, to be fair - but they have a lack of training. For example, it’s now 13:00 (I’m writing this review while still here!) and our room still hasn’t been serviced, despite us having been out for a few hours. When I visited the front desk to query this, the receptionist started by telling me that servicing can happen any time between 10:00 and 17:00 - then when I pushed back on this, she reluctantly said she’d make a call to the housekeeping team. In a supposedly 5-star resort, this is unacceptable. A better-trained receptionist would have started by apologising, and saying that she’d request it immediately. The staff service in the on-site restaurant was very clumsy. They spilled some food on my shirt (with no acknowledgement or apology), and served my wife only half her dish, before moving on to other people in our multi-room group, while she was left there waiting for her rice. They also added bottled water to the bill, without asking us whether we wanted it or not. We had another issue with the price of the massage. One of the staff offered to arrange anything we wanted, and gave me her whatsApp number. We opted for a massage. However, once she quoted the price, it was significantly more than had been advertised on the spa’s own price list. I queried this, and she said it included tax and service charge. I then replied that we no longer wanted the massage - to which she replied that we are entitled to a 20% discount. Then after recalculating the price, this was acceptable to us. Well, why not lead with that information in the first place, to avoid the back-and-forth? Not 5-star facilities. Not 5-star service.
